New Book About Daufuskie Island, SC

We are proud to add a new book to our ever growing book collection at the General Store. Wick Scurry, who is the owner of Freeport Marina, has published a book about his many years spent on the Island. The book also talks about his best friend from his Island days, Jake Washington.
Jake Washington was a Daufuskie Island native who was very respected by the entire Island. He and Mr. Scurry had many business ventures together. Jake was a tour guide for Wick for many years. Jake was also a famous bootlegger who produced a very potent alcohol. This premium beverage is served today at the Old Daufuskie Crab Company.
