On March 15, 2018 at 233pm local time, flight Jolly 51 crashed shortly after taking off in western Iraq net the Syrian border. All 7 service members on board were killed: 4 flight crew from the NY national guard all of whom were fire fighters, one pararescue officer from Moody AFB, and 2 pararescuemen: MSgt Bill Posch and SSgt Carl Enis.
Pararescuemen are highly trained medics specializing in critical care as well as highly trained special operators. Their mission is to recover and rescue crewmembers of downed aircraft even in hostile environments in active combat. Their motto is “These things we do that others may live.”
Carl Enis was our member Heather's sister’s brother in law. He had just earned his MBA from Florida State University and was a budding local real estate agent. He was a gifted linguist (fluent in Spanish and Swahili), gifted hunter of everything from alligators to big game in Africa, an incredible friend to a number of people and a beloved family member. He is survived by his wife, Angela Drzwiecki.
